- Take US-280 into Childersburg, AL
- Turn Right (West) onto CR-8 – Also
known as Childersburg/Fayetteville Hwy –
8.9 Miles
- Turn Right (West) onto Russell
Chapel Rd. – 2.6 Miles
- Keep Right onto Camp Brownie Rd –
2.2 Miles – Please keep in mind, this
road is going to twist and turn. You
“will pass” Lay Lake Estate on your
right – Please do not turn into this
subdivision, continue down Camp Brownie,
which will turn into Lake View Drive
until it dead ends into our property.

Vulcan Park
Vulcan
Park’s 10-acre urban green space is filled with
interesting history lessons! Outdoor
information stations focus on Birmingham’s history,
geology and natural environment. Park visitors can
walk on the large-scale ground map of the region and
visually understand the location of minerals
necessary for the production of iron. Adjacent to
the map is a large 3D display illustrating a
cross-section of the rock layers of Red Mountain and
an explanation of the origin of iron, coal, and
limestone. Outdoor exhibits also inform visitors of
the Lone Pine Mine and Birmingham Mineral Railroad.
A trip to Vulcan’s observation balcony features
spectacular panoramic views including other
historical sites!
Admission: Entrance to the park grounds is free
daily from 7 am – 6 pm.
Daily Admission Rates, plus tax, 10 am – 6 pm:

$5 Seniors (65+)
$4 Children ages 5 – 12
Children 4 years and under are admitted free.

Southern Museum of Flight
You will see the machines that helped the world
take to the skies. Military, civilian, and
home-built aircraft on display at the Museum include
one of Delta Air Line’s first plants – the Huff
Daland crop duster, a full-size Wright Flyer
replica, a 1912 Curtiss Pusher replica, a Fokker
VII, a VanEze experimental home-built, two US Air
Force fighter jet cockpit simulators and so much
more!
Alabama’s Aviation Hall of Fame at the museum honors
those who have made an outstanding contribution to
aviation in Alabama. The outdoor display
expands the museum’s offerings. Sixteen planes –
many from the Vietnam era – including an A-12
Blackbird, a Huey UH-1 Helicopter, and an F-4
Phantom jet fighter.

McWane Science Center
McWane
Science Center is the cornerstone of Birmingham,
Alabama’s downtown revitalization. This
state-of-the-art science center, aquarium and IMAX
Dome Theater is housed in the historic Loveman’s
Department Store building.
McWane Science Center combines two institutions of
the recent past, Discovery Place and Red Mountain
Museum, to create a stimulating interactive science
museum and a depository of natural artifacts of
collection, storage, and interpretive display.
Adventures in science surround you at McWane Science
Center! Experience the wonders of our world in
action through imaginative, hands-on activities.
Explore interactive science exhibits, aquariums,
laboratories, fossil & artifact collections and a

Alabama Sports Hall of Fame & Museum
The ASHOF is a magnificent state treasure,
dedicated to the celebration and preservation of
Alabama’s exceptional sports heritage. Over
the last thirty-five years, the ASHOF has become the
benchmark for other Sports Museums across the
country, with over 5,000 sports artifacts elegantly
displayed in the 33,000 square foot building. Out of
the ESPN’s list of the top 100 athletes of the
century, five out of the top fifteen greatest ever
are in the ASHOF: Jesse Owens, Hank Aaron, Joe
Louis, Willie Mays and Carl Lewis!
